This parab-listening device was originally developed for the sports broadcasting industry and is now available as a tactical US&R tool to all emergency response professionals. The Big Ears and Lil’ Ears listening device units allow tactical technicians to increase their hearing sensitivity 25X times above the normal human ear. Our units permit high-tech monitoring of any situation, allows pin pointing a suspect or locating a missing person(s) trapped by a disaster. They allow peak-performance in the harshest environments or climates usually associated with in-theater incidents, tactical search rescues or surveillance ops. The operator can acquire a suspect location/area via attached electronic reflex targeting sight and adjust listening sensitivity at that specific distance and all with remarkable sound detection and clarity. Together, Big Ears and Lil’ Ears, are used as a tactical search 'tool-kit' allowing teams to effectively cover both long-range large ("Assessment") areas and short-range specific ("Entrance") areas resulting in pin-point scanning for possible victim locations thereby dramatically reducing both over search times and rescue/recovery durations.
The main element of this device is the parabolic dish that is constructed with a patented polymeric transparent material. This material provides mil.spec structural integrity to perform in an abusive environment while maintaining accurate stability, maximum reflective qualities and optimum sound reception.
The kit includes the dish with handle attached (threaded base on Lil’ Ears Only), an electronic aiming sight (with batteries), dish support strap, microphone, headset, electronic control module & neck-lanyard strap (with batteries), standard protective carrying case or optional rigid shipping case, all set-up instructions necessary to operate and maintain the units.
